The Voice Detective aka Gyaan Lyon is excited to launch today The Voice Detective Show: a free monthly show where he interviews experts from all walks of life about anything and everything to do with the Voice and the Art of Bel Canto aka beautiful singing. What better day to launch the show than on the 151st anniversary of the birth of the great Italian tenor Enrico Caruso?

Enrico Caruso was a once in a lifetime voice; one which captured the imagination of generations of opera and popular music fans and performers alike. And it is fair to say in doing so, he became a household name and an inspiration to every tenor past and present. The Voice Detective humbly pays homage to him on this day.

On this day, the 103rd anniversary of the great Italian-American tenor Mario Lanza’s birthday, the Voice Detective wishes to pay tribute to him. He was dubbed by Arturo Toscanini as “the greatest voice of the 20th century”1 and his glorious voice influenced every tenor that followed thereafter.

Being a buddying tenor himself, The Voice Detective AKA Gyaan Lyon commemorates this great artist and humbly propels his own voyage of vocal and performing discovery out into the World Wide Web with the launching of his website voicedetective.com. His mission being to bring information and entertainment about his own personal vocal journey of voice investigation and all things singing, opera and stage to those who love singing and the vocal art.

The Salvation Army’s UK leader officially opens the new Strawberry Field centre

LIVERPOOL, UK, NOVEMBER 12, 2019 – The Salvation Army’s UK leader, Commissioner Anthony Cotterill, will officially open the new Strawberry Field training hub and visitors centre with a special ceremony of dedication and worship.

Strawberry Field, the iconic site immortalised in The Beatles hit ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’, welcomed the public beyond the famous red gates for the first time in the summer. The new Strawberry Field centre has proved popular, with over 40,000 Beatles fans visiting in the first few months of opening.

The official opening ceremony was led by Mission Director, Major Kathy Versfeld and followed a format of prayers, bible readings, thanksgiving speeches and hymns. There was also a presentation from the Steps to Work trainees; an opportunity for them to share with the 300 guests, how they have been transformed by the programme so far.

Iyengar yoga and hemiplegia by Gyaan Lyon

I have congenital right-sided hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. Specifically, my right hand and foot are completely paralysed with limited movement in my right shoulder, arm and leg.

Coping with pain from neuromuscular spasticity is one of the most debilitating facets of my disability in daily life. Various physiotherapy treatments since childhood have been ineffective and very painful with little relief.

In February 2012, the spasticity and resulting pain became so acute whilst I was completing university coursework in London that it felt as if each and every cell on the right side of my body was being strangled from the inside. A previous year of repetitive right ankle sprain injuries sustained from walking barefooted at home made matters worse.
